Hazel Wand

This is a hazel wood wand - the wood was gathered in Dartmoor, England. It is carved with the salmon of knowledge eating a hazelnut in a pool with carved celtic waves. Above the salmon is carved a hazel tree with stylized roots. This is an intricately carved wand, from the veins of the leaves to the scales and fins of the salmon, no detail has been overlooked. This wand has been painted with eco-friendly coloured woodstains which still allow the grain of the hazel wood to show through. It has been finished with linseed oil and has been rubbed with beeswax. This wand measures 12 1/4 inches long and just over half an inch at the widest part. Hazel is one of the traditional woods used for wandmaking. It's properties include wisdom, luck, fertility, protection and wishing. Hazel is also a wood traditionally used for dowsing.
